The Bronx was the site of a serious crash that claimed the life of one man in the early morning hours of Jan. 4, according to local sources. The driver involved in the single-car accident was killed, and the passenger seriously injured. New York police are still attempting to determine what was the cause of this tragic accident.
According to the accident report, the 31-year-old man was heading west on East 22nd Street when he apparently lost control of his vehicle. The car struck a parked sport utility vehicle before striking three more cars and coming to a stop. Police have yet to determine what caused the man to lose control of his vehicle in this way.
The driver was seriously injured and rushed to a local hospital by medical authorities, where he was later pronounced dead. The 23-year-old female passenger of the vehicle also suffered injuries of undetermined severity. She was taken to the same hospital, where she is listed as being in stable condition as of this report.
New York police will continue to investigate this car accident to determine just what went wrong behind the steering wheel to cause the crash. If it is determined that the driver was in some way responsible for the accident, either through intoxication or recklessness, the surviving passenger may have legal options available to her. She could conceivably file a civil suit for personal injury against the driver’s estate in the hope of winning some financial restitution for the injuries she incurred in the crash.
