Accident claims the life of New York bicyclist

In New York City, it is not uncommon to hear about bike accidents occurring. Because of the sheer number of bicyclists in the city, delivery bike accidents and other bike-related crashes are regularly in the news. More and more people are turning to bicycles as their major source of transportation. New York City has responded by continuing to improve bike lanes and encouraging drivers to keep on the lookout for bicyclists. Every day, bicyclists are involved in accidents caused by the negligence of other people. For one man in upstate New York, his life ended after a car crashed into the bicycle he was riding.

The fatal accident happened in Canton County, New York. A 69-year-old man was riding his bike along a road when he was hit by a car. According to authorities, the driver of the car did not stop to render assistance to the bicyclist, and instead fled from the scene. Police also believe the driver was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident. The driver has been arrested and charged with several crimes, including second-degree vehicular manslaughter.
