2 injured following New York car accident

A crash involving two senior citizens has sent both individuals to a local hospital, according to local law enforcement.  New York police responded to a 2-car accident in Massena on the evening of Sept. 18.  One driver has been ticketed as a result of the accident. 

The accident report is vague at this time, but it has been confirmed that a 90-year-old man apparently failed to yield at a green light at the time of the crash.  He traveled into the intersection where he struck a vehicle being driven by an 83-year-old woman.  The damage to the woman’s car is unknown, but the man’s car apparently rolled as a result of the impact. 

The extent of the injuries suffered by both parties is also unknown at the time of this report, but both individuals were taken to the same local hospital for treatment.  It is unknown if they have been released from the hospital at this time.  Police do not suspect the 90-year-old of intoxication, but he was issued a ticket for failing to yield.  

Considering fault has been determined in the case of this car accident, the 83-year-old driver will be entitled to file a personal injury lawsuit against the 90-year-old driver in a New York civil court setting.  The extent of her injuries will likely inform the level of remuneration she might seek in such a filing.  However, given her advanced age, the possibility for debilitating injury in an accident of this type goes up exponentially, so this will have to be taken into consideration by the civil court.
