Car accident in New York sends 4 to hospital

No tickets have been issued in the case of a three-car crash that sent four people to local hospitals with a variety of injuries. Thankfully, New York emergency responders have confirmed that none of these injuries are deemed life-threatening. It is unclear at this time what caused the car accident, but an investigation is still underway as of this report. 

The accident was reported in Yonkers around 11:30 a.m. the morning of Jan. 23, closing the southbound lanes of I-87 for several hours. The specifics of the accident have not been elaborated upon in the press, but it is clear that three vehicles were involved. One of those vehicles apparently sustained serious damage after rolling several times and almost ending up in the northbound lane. 

The driver of the rolled vehicle was one of the four individuals sent to hospitals by medical teams on the scene. The extent of these injuries was not elaborated upon in this report, nor are the current statuses of any of those injured. No one has been publicly identified by authorities at this time. 

There is too little information available at this time to make an accurate prediction as to how the New York police investigation will play out. If it is determined that one or more drivers were negligent, reckless or intoxicated in a way that contributed to the car accident, those drivers could face criminal charges. There is also the possibility that one or more of the injured parties will choose to file suit against any driver deemed responsible for the crash. Evidence of wrongdoing, even if it does not lead to a criminal charge or conviction, will be required to file such suits with a hope of success.
