4-car accident in New York kills 1, injures 6

A serious multiple-car crash in the Bronx has left one person dead and six others injured, according to local sources. The car accident took place early on the morning of June 28, when New York officials responded. For the moment, police have not filed any charges, though they are still continuing to investigate the particulars of the crash.

It appears that a 54-year-old man may have been speeding around 4:30 on the morning in question, when he attempted to cross between a parked car and another vehicle stopped at a red light. He wound up striking both cars, which caused another collision with a fourth car. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. 

The other six injured people were in one or both of the other vehicles at the time of the crash. They were all taken to the hospital with injuries described as minor. For the moment, police are continuing to investigate the specifics of the accident to ensure that speeding is the appropriate reason to stamp on the accident report. 

While those who survived did so with apparently minor injuries, New York residents fully understand that car accident injuries that appear minor can sometimes become long-term problems. With this in mind, the surviving people may choose to file personal injury suits against the estate of the driver and against anyone with ownership interest in his vehicle. While police would need to corroborate that the driver was in the wrong, obviously no criminal conviction of the deceased man would be required.
