One person is dead and another is seriously injured following a crash in Queens, according to local sources. The car accident, which reportedly involved two vehicles, claimed the life of a 60-year-old man and sent a 41-year-old man to the hospital. New York police are still working out exactly what caused the accident, and the case is considered under investigation.
According to the limited accident report, the accident occurred at an intersection in Queens on Aug. 5. The details of exactly what happened are not available at this time, and police have remained closed-mouthed on the subject of which driver might be held accountable. The accident was severe enough to seriously injure the 60-year-old driver, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The 41-year-old driver is listed as being in stable condition at this time. Police have not ruled out negligence, recklessness or even alcohol intoxication as possible causes of the accident. However, their investigation is still underway, and no charges have yet been filed against the surviving driver.
New York police will continue to investigate the car accident until a cause for the crash can be determined. At this point, one of a few things can happen. If the driver responsible is determined to be the deceased man, the injured man could file a personal injury lawsuit against his estate. However, if the surviving man is determined to be responsible for the crash, the family of the deceased man could file a wrongful death suit against him. In both cases, evidence of culpability would be required for the suit to be successful.
