11 hurt in New York car accident

Eleven people have been sent to local hospitals following a serious crash involving a bus carrying special-needs adults, according to local news sources. New York authorities responded to the car accident that took place in Queens around 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 23. Thankfully no one was killed in the crash. For the moment, police have not filed charges against either driver involved. 

Authorities are still piecing together the specifics of how the accident took place, but it has been confirmed that the two vehicles – a passenger bus and a car – collided at the intersection of 82nd Road and Woodhaven Boulevard. The nine passengers on the bus were all special-needs adults who were being transported through Glendale at the time. All nine were treated for minor injuries, including bumps and cuts. 

The two drivers of the vehicles involved did not fare so well. Both were rushed to local hospitals with serious injuries, though neither appear to be in danger of succumbing to those injuries. Police are still in the process of putting together which driver may have been at fault for the crash, and their investigation will continue until a satisfactory answer has been uncovered. 

New York police will need to determine more specific details about the car accident before they can file charges against either driver. If one or both drivers is found to have violated the law, criminal charges may follow. Separately, if the evidence suggests that one driver was to blame for the crash, the other driver may choose to commence a personal injury lawsuit against the other for damages incurred in the crash. Moreover, the bus driver is likely entitled to collect workers’ compensation benefits regardless of fault in the crash.
