Whether you are taking a short day trip just outside of the city, or going further out of town to see family and friends for a weekend, a large number of people visit amusement parks throughout their summer vacations. These parks might seem like a nice break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in Manhattan, but they can be very dangerous premises for children.
Every year nearly 4,500 children are injured and treated in emergency departments across the country because of dangerous amusement park rides. These injuries typically happen from May through September when most children have off of school and when the weather is nicest for these rides.
Over a quarter of the injuries that children suffer from amusement park rides are head and neck related. These injuries can be especially serious and may lead to life-long disabilities or pain. A large number of injuries from these rides are caused by falls or from hitting a body part on something while on the ride.
While the safety and operation of these rides are regulated to a certain extent, there are many risks involved when using an amusement park ride. If a person is injured because of their use of one of these rides, whether near New York City or elsewhere, they might be wise to speak with an experienced personal injury attorney. They can help a person understand their rights and work to seek compensation. When a child is injured, they could suffer a lifetime of complications, which can result in large medical expenses.
