The streets of New York are often busy and bustling with people who are in a hurry to get where they are going. In an effort to save time and money, some commuters may choose to ride bikes rather than attempting to park or drive a car through the crowded streets. Unfortunately, the crowded streets and busy lifestyle also make the environment prime for bicycle accidents, which can be a serious danger both to the bike rider and the pedestrians who happen to be in the way.
A photographer travelled a little too close to famous actress Nicole Kidman as she was coming out of a hotel in New York, knocking her down and shaking her up, although she was not seriously injured in the incident. The accident resulted in the actress falling and losing one shoe as she left the hotel.
According to witnesses, the photographer lost control of his bike after attempting to brake and failing to do so. The biker was given three citations by law enforcement officers for the accident including reckless endangerment, riding a bike with no helmet and riding a bike on the sidewalk. The actress had no plans to press charges.
Although many stars choose to live their lives in the limelight, the dangers of being famous are particularly obvious in situations such as these. Had the actress been seriously injured, the photographer may have been liable for any medical costs the she incurred because of the incident, regardless of whether or not she could afford to pay her bills on her own.
