Imagine someone pedaling down the street for a morning bike ride when out of nowhere a car plows into the rider’s path. Bicyclists in New York can be overlooked on the road, but that shouldn’t be the case. They should be safe from harm’s way just the same as someone driving a car or walking on a sidewalk.
A cyclist in New York suffered serious injuries recently after a man who was allegedly fleeing authorities allegedly struck the cyclist. Reports did not indicate whether the rider was male or female, however he or she was treated for several broken bones from the collision and his or her injuries were reportedly serious.
The man who allegedly hit the cyclist was reportedly fleeing authorities after he and another man were allegedly seen robbing a third man moments before the accident. According to reports, one of the men allegedly left the robbery scene on foot, while the other drove away. Allegedly, the man who drove away ran into an MTA officer before allegedly hitting the cyclist. He then allegedly crashed into a building after colliding with the cyclist before fleeing the scene. Authorities are still looking for both of the men.
If authorities are able to locate the man who was behind the wheel and who allegedly caused the bicyclist’s injuries, it may be a good idea for the cyclist to meet with a personal injury lawyer. A jury could find the alleged suspect responsible for the cyclist’s injuries and award the cyclist just compensation for his or her pain and suffering.
